Le Fou translates to ‘Mad Man’ as the idea of producing Pinot Noir in the warmer Languedoc region was thought to be a crazy idea. However, the producers have proved everyone wrong with this delightful, fruit filled Pinot.
As you’d expect from the warmer temperatures, the style is fuller than Pinot Noir from Burgundy, but picking at optimum ripeness followed by a cool vinification has produced a lovely fresh edge to the wine. On the nose, there’s loads of rich black cherry compote while the palate is juicy with silky smooth tannins.
