A fresh and fabulous natural wine with a lovely tangy finish. For anyone new to natural wines, this is a super little wine to get you started. Orange wines are made with little or no intervention and the juice is left in contact with skins and seeds, creating a pretty amber hue and a lovely rich texture. Styles will vary considerably depending on the length of the skin contact.
Notes of ripe pear, melon and citrus jump out of the glass while the palate is zippy and refreshing with a great texture. I think natural wines are at their best served with food, particularly hard cheeses.
There’s no official definition of natural wine but grapes are typically grown by small-scale, independent producers, are hand-picked from sustainable, organic, or biodynamic vineyards. The wine is fermented with no added yeast (i.e. native yeasts), no additives are included in fermentation and little or no sulphites are added during bottling.
